Was die Grundlagen ihrer neuen pädagogischen Ideen waren und bis heute sind, soll das anschließende Kapitel zeigen. Dabei werde ich neben den wichtigsten Grundlagen der Montessori-Pädagogik auch auf das anthropologische Denken Montessoris und auf ihre Einteilung der sensiblen Phasen eingehen.
Danach komme ich auf die Eckpfeiler der Montessori-Pädagogik und auf Hauptgegenstand dieser Seminararbeit zu sprechen. Die Freiarbeit gehört zum zentralen Charakteristikum des pädagogischen Konzeptes Montessoris. Es gilt dem Verlangen der freien Entfaltung des Kindes Rechnung zu tragen und zu erkennen, dass Kinder in der Lage sind, Arbeiten und Aufgaben selbst zu bewältigen. Dabei werden Eltern stets überrascht, was once Kinder alles leisten können, wenn sie die Möglichkeit zur Selbsttätigkeit bekommen. Es soll deutlich werden, dass Kinder viel mehr leisten können, wenn sie nicht ständig von Erwachsenen unterbrochen und korrigiert werden.
